INDIA BY THE BAY 2019

India by the Bay is a unique festival celebrating Indian heritage and culture in Hong Kong, co-presented by Teamwork Arts and Asia Society Hong Kong Centre, with support by the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong. Hosted during March 2019, the one week festival presented a wonderful mix of events ranging from music, dance, film, food, literature and art, allowing the Hong Kong public a rare opportunity to personally experience the diversity and richness of Indian history and culture.

In collaboration with the festival, HKwalls helped to organize and co-curate a couple of murals painted by the Vayeda Brothers. Born in Ganjad, India, the brothers’ upbringing amongst Warli culture inspired them to become Warli painters, a traditional Indian artistic style that dates back to as early as 10th century A.D. This art style focuses on capturing the vibrant beauty of Mother Nature and the living world. As such, elements of nature are frequently seen in Warli paintings.

India by the Bay
