KATHAA - STORIES FROM INDIA ON HONG KONG WALLS, 2023 Edition

The fourth edition of Kathaa brought beautiful Indian folk art to the streets of Hong Kong from the 22nd to the 28th of November 2023. This year, Kathaa featured 4 Indian artists – Dinesh Soni (Pichwai), Riyaz Ahmad Khan (Kashmiri Paper Mache), Vidya Soni (Mandana), and Sanjay Chitara (Mata ni Pachedi) – who created artwork in various locations across Hong Kong.

The Kathaa Festival was a showcase of the diversity and richness of India’s cultural heritage, with these traditional folk arts being some of the oldest art forms in the world. In addition to the live mural paintings, there was also workshops, demonstrations, and collaborations with other organizations to promote Indian traditional art globally.

Kathaa is an annual collaboration between MeMeraki and HKwalls, and was made possible this year thanks to the generous support of Mrs. P Shroff & Mr. R Shroff, the Consulate General of India Hong Kong, and our festival partner Hysan Development, supported by the Lee Gardens Association.
