DARBOTZ

Darbotz loves Jakarta very much. For him, the traffic jam, the chaos, and the hecticness of Jakarta must be faced everyday. That chaos bring out the visual character of his work, the cumi (squid), a character which describes his alter ego facing the hard city.

His visualization style is very distinctive and unique. Darbotz solely uses black and white with a bit of accentuation via accent colors. This is a strategy that he uses when work on the streets. Black and white becomes the cure for the urban festive colors from a variety of advertising products such as billboards, neon box, and city lights. By using a simple color pallet, his art on the wall is able to grab attention despite its crazy context.
