Wingchow is a Richmond-based artist whose work can be recognized through the use of distinct amorphous forms, which developed organically from an original interest in human viscera. Driven by intuitive movement, these forms come through like a stream of consciousness- to create a world of floating blobs, swirling colors, and playful shape shifting creatures. Color choice often precedes imagery, and improvisation plays a huge role in the process. Thematically, the figurative work often draws from ideas of mystery, energy, transformation, and play. But whether the work is abstract or figurative, the goal remains the same. Make visual candy.
